When Community Steps Up, Athletes Rise

Canadian skateboarders are pushing harder than ever on the international stage — but the reality behind the scenes is that our athletes are doing it with limited support, minimal funding, and a whole lot of heart. That’s why moments of community leadership matter so deeply. And this week, two long-time champions of Canadian skateboarding stepped up in an incredible way.
Jay Mandarino (Founder of CJ’s SKATEPARK) and Paul Anderson have joined forces to offer a combined $20,000 in matching donations for our campaign supporting Canadian skateboarders competing internationally. Their generosity couldn’t come at a more important time, and the impact will be felt immediately.
Double the Support. Double the Impact.
Every dollar donated from today forward — whether it’s $5, $50, or $500 — will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000. That means your contribution goes twice as far in helping our riders train, travel, and compete at the highest level.
These matched funds will directly support athletes heading to key international events, such as the recent World Cup event in Kitakyushu, Japan.. For riders fighting to carve out a path in a sport that often flies under the radar in Canada, this support is game-changing.
Coming Together When It Matters Most
Across the country, athletes in many sports are facing chronic underfunding. Skateboarding — still a newer Olympic sport — is no exception. But what makes skateboarding special is the way its community rallies together when it’s needed most.
Jay and Paul’s commitment is a powerful example of that spirit: local leaders who believe in the next generation and who understand that real progress comes when the whole community gets behind its athletes.
Their generosity sends a message: Canadian skateboarders deserve the chance to show the world what they can do. And together, we can help make that happen.
