CANADA SKATEBOARD AND TECH DECK PARTNER TO INCREASE PARTICIPATION IN SKATEBOARDING
Canada Skateboard is proud to announce a partnership with Tech Deck to ‘roll’ out Canada Skateboard’s first ever entry-level guide to skateboarding!
The Tech Deck Start Pushing program will provide skateboarders, parents, coaches, clubs, community groups and sports facilitators with a resource to introduce skateboarders to the culture and community that skates to the beat of a different drummer.
The program's focus is safety and provides a clear game plan of what participants need to get started and how to promote positive learning environments. With skateboarding being named as a permanent Olympic Sport, this resource will provide insight into skateboarding’s unwritten rules surrounding, etiquette at the skatepark, where and what to buy as your first skateboard, and helpful tips for all stakeholders.
“The release of the Tech Deck Start Pushing program is a giant step forward in welcoming new people to skateboarding. The online resources and physical events are Canada Skateboards ‘get started’ guide for first-time skateboarders and sports administrators” - Hagan McCreath, Executive Director, Canada Skateboard.
Tech Deck is also the presenting partner of the Slurpee Canada Skateboard Open Contest Series. This free-to-enter, multi-day activation tour is happening in six cities across Canada.
The Slurpee Canada Skateboard Open Contest series presented by Tech Deck will connect the Canadian skateboard community by hosting seven competitions and five community days running from June through August.
“Skateboarding connected with people during the covid lockdowns. You didn’t need a team or a referee to have fun. It was the perfect sport for a pandemic. Participation numbers are skyrocketing in Canada, and more females, gender, and ethnically diverse groups are getting on board! - Hagan McCreath, Executive Director, Canada Skateboard
Following day.
"“Tech Deck shares a passion for and commitment to growing and celebrating the sport and culture of skateboarding,” said Adam Hyman, VP Marketing and Global Business Team Lead, Wheels and Action at Spin Master. “Tech Deck offers a range of expertly designed fingerboards, ramps and playsets that provide kids and adult fans with a unique skateboarding outlet to practice their skills. We are pleased to be supporting the Start Pushing program and the Slurpee Canada Skateboard Open Series to introduce new athletes to the sport in a safe and fun way and bring the fun and excitement of the competition home.”

This was incredible and taught me a lot!! Not only about skateboard safety and what to do in the case of a injury or accident, but also how skateboarders and everyone involved should treat each other to avoid maltreatment and neglect. Thank you Canada Skateboard <3
